“Internet-Beschwerdestelle.de” is a joint project of eco – Association of the Internet Industry and the German Association for Voluntary Self-Regulation of Digital Media service providers (FSM e.V.).
For more than 25 years, eco and the FSM have been operating hotlines that receive complaints about illegal and harmful Internet content. With the joint website www.internet-beschwerdestelle.de, which has been in existence since December 2004, eco and FSM offer a contact point for Internet users to obtain information about safer use of the Internet and to submit complaints.
The eco and FSM complaints hotlines were created through the initiative of various companies in the Internet industry, which implement measures to improve the protection of minors on the Internet as part of voluntary commitments. They are also part of an international network: eco and FSM are founding members of INHOPE, the umbrella organization of Internet hotlines(www.inhope.org), through which hotlines cooperate efficiently on an international level.
On the occasion of the European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse on November 18, the German complaints offices of FSM (Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Multimedia-Diensteanbieter e.V.), eco (Verband der Internetwirtschaft e.V.) and jugendschutz.net inform with a joint video about reporting options for Internet users, the working methods of the complaints offices and the cooperation with the BKA.
